Diary of a Tensionista

We’re 6 days into the swing of the Olympics, 2 blocks away from The Russian Pavilion (aka Science World), and minutes away from the Olympics Village during our busiest month! We’re as calm as a backstage fashion show coordinator. Ah-hem…

So I was walking by the showroom and how cute! The designers did a toddler dress for our Princess line that looks almost like the adult version in Sweet Chemise! Check this out... this is a sneak peek of our Fall 2010 line!

Funny random info for you - a few of us do everything in five inch stilettos (or wedges) and that would include chasing after the Purolator driver for a missed shipment pickup. Truly we do it with such style that I feel it must be noted.

The best part of being here? Why shopping in our stockroom of course! Imagine rows and rows of clothing that have been untouched by any other body. Next best? Probably peeking at all the cool designs for next season as they are finished. I like to daydream about the dresses I’ll buy and where I will wear them to. Fall 2010 has some very tasteful shine happening…..oooohhh and sequins to trim…yum.

I just caught the designers obsessing about the press of a pleat and the hang of a collar. They can be so dramatic sometimes.

So this is a typical day in the life of a Tensionista. We’ll keep you posted throughout the season, so check back for our next adventures!

Sweet Chemise Spring 2010 Trends

Inspired by Lewis Carroll, Sweet Chemise, launches Wonderland for Spring 2010. How do this season’s trends translate into a stylish piece for you? Read about this spring’s must-have playful prints and bows & roses inspire you to out-dress the queen for your next royal visit.

Spring Trend #1: Playful Prints
Once upon a time, a young girl named Alice journeyed through Wonderland wearing a simple frock. What would she wear to meet the Queen of Hearts in the 21st century? Bold print and colour characterize this whimsical collection of fairy-tale dresses.
The Garden – A scalloped neckline on this strapless dress contrasts the beautiful silk rose print on The Garden
The Grandeur – This form fitting bustier dress comes in bold splashes of navy and red roses, nipping perfectly at the waist and blossoming into a modern tulip skirt silhouette. The invisible pockets are a bonus!

Spring Trend #2: Bows & Roses
Fun and feminine details are not to be missed this season. Waist-ties wrapped around the waist and finishing off in a sweet bow is one of the must-have looks. And who can forget roses when there’s an invitation to a cricket match with the Queen of Hearts? Bows and roses complete the look.
The Palace – Soft Viola violet pleats cascade down from the neckline, adding a hint of royalty to The Palace, and the look is finished off with a waistband tied into a bow at either the front or back. Message to the Queen of Hearts: Alice can look like true royalty in this dress.
The Rosette – Later in the day, when her royal highness beckons, a quick change into The Rosette featuring a pretty row of roses lined on the hem transforms her into royalty.

We’re a Vancouver based design house producing 3 lines for fashionistas: TENSION – a stylish coordinates line, Sweet Chemise – dresses for special occasions, and T by Tension – athleisurewear with flare. Last season, shortly after designer Joyce Ma had her first born, we also introduced 2 children’s lines too: an urban lounge wear line for babes called Mochi Ga Ga, and a dresses line for the petite fashionista called Sweet Chemise Princess.
